City Reviews ERP Implementation on Jalan Gatot Subroto

Besides Jalan Jenderal Sudirman and Jalan HR Rasuna Said, the Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) system is planned to be implemented on national road, namely Jalan Gatot Subroto. It aims to parse traffic congestion.

According to M Akbar, Head of Jakarta Transportation Department, the ERP system cannot be implemented on Jalan Gatot Subroto, but he hopes its road status can be changed into provincial road.

"To implement ERP, I plan to change status of Jalan Gatot Subroto into provincial road," he exclaimed, when he attended in public dialogue 'Measuring the Effectiveness of Electronic Road Pricing (ERP), in one of the hotel, Jalan Wahid Hasyim, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (6/3).

He assessed Jalan Gatot Subroto as national road is probably can be changed into provincial road. Moreover, the road can already be replaced with the toll road. "This is because, toll road is a national road, perhaps Jalan Gatot Subroto could be replaced before. Thus those heading to Tangerang-Bekasi have to pass through the road, but now there is a toll road," he expressed.

He added that such plan must be re-reviewed, whether ERP is needed or not. The review will be seen from various sides and also certain things, that's why it needs to be conducted.
